Second time's the charm

Kota has been named to CB Insights' Insurtech 50 2026 list, recognising the world's most promising private insurtech companies. It's the second year running Kota has made the list.

CB Insights picks the 50 from thousands of applicants using its Mosaic scoring model, which weighs customer references, partner and carrier relationships, investor strength, commercial maturity, and hiring momentum. It's built to separate companies with real traction from companies with a good pitch.

Why this matters

Benefits and how they are run haven't changed much in twenty years. Most companies still run them through spreadsheets, manual data entry, and a broker they only hear from at renewal. At Kota, we’ve rebuilt that as a new kind of brokerage: benefits admin wired into HR systems so it runs itself, an always-on advisor that models renewal options ahead of time instead of leaving teams to scramble, and one predictable fee instead of hidden servicing costs.

One of the key takeaways from this year's Insurtech 50 report is something I've been waxing lyrical about since we built the foundations that Kota runs on: in the insurtech industry the products are harder to build and heavily regulated. This is what makes the problem we're solving so critical, and also makes it harder for other companies to replicate what we've built. In a world where many software companies face competitive alternatives that can be spun up overnight, we're operating in a space that is slower to disrupt but ultimately critical to win. This is why we do it.
