👋 I'm Gonçalo Rodrigues, I made the switch to backend engineering after a few years building mobile apps, and haven't looked back since.
I'm a senior backend engineer on Kota's engineering team, helping build the systems that power the whole platform. Most days, I'm keeping an eye on our systems, fixing bugs when they come up, and spending most of my time writing code that I try to make easy for the people around me to understand and build on.
Being part of a company this size means we can make decisions and move fast, and communication across the team stays easy. It's genuinely exciting to see a small team like ours doing high-impact work and growing quickly.
Building a new product means constantly balancing what should be generic against what needs to be specific to a particular case, while making sure the data connecting different organisations is correct and properly matched up.
